Gymsport Competitions

On Tuesday the 18 June the year 7 and 8 gymnasts represented Tauriko School at the gymsports competitions at ARGOS, in the Flyers and Twisters divisions. They had all been training very hard for one lunchtime a week, since the beginning of the year.

Each gymnast completed a floor, vault and beam routine. There were many girls from all parts of Tauranga and Rotorua competing at this event. Chloe Smith finished a superb 7th in the Flyers division. Strong performances were completed by Keilani Worthen, Brooke James, Charlotte and Leah Mackinnon.

The following week on Tuesday the 25 June the year 5 and 6 competition took place. In the Twisters division Hannah Rose finished a fantastic 5th, with Arohaina Worthen and Ellie Richardson finishing 9th= overall. The team of Lucy Jensen, Hannah Rose and Meesha Richardson finished 2nd overall with Ellie, Arohina and Jessica James a close 5th.

In the Flyers division 12 gymnasts competed to an extremely high standard, Paige Aulding finished 1st overall with Libby Coster 3rd overall. Their team, also including Cristina McCormick and Lisa Evans took out the gold medal and 1st place in the team’s event!

Not to be outdone, in the boys division Brendan McLelland finished 2nd overall and Campbell Read was 3rd overall. Many of these students will be competing in the best of the best competition to be held at ARGOS gym this Friday. I wish them all the very best and want them to know how very proud I am of all of their effort and enthusiasm. Congratulations to you all.
